When Kakashi was a child, he was rather humorless and stern. He believed that following the rules of the ninja world and completing his missions was most important, above everything else. But with the death of his teammate, Uchiha Obito, Kakashi began to change and evolve into the man he is today.
Losing his teammate showed him the importance of looking out for your friends and comrades, making that his new priority in life. He finds teamwork to be so important that he never passed any of the genin that came before him until the team of Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto was formed. Once they proved that they could work and support each other as a team, he accepted them as his pupils.
Kakashi is far more relaxed then when he was a child. He is constantly late, often times coming up with ridiculous excuses for his tardiness. This is also a trait that he gained from Obito. This often makes him seem lazy. He speaks with a very relaxed voice, his eye is often half-lidded and almost bored looking, and everything about his behavior and life seems very low key despite the fact he is a fairly high profile ninja.
One thing about him that did not change is his carefree and his tendency to speak and act without emotion. He often speaks rather bluntly about sensitive topics and isn't afraid to speak what is on his mind. He is typically very cool and collected no matter what the situation and you never see him get particularly worked up unless someone does something to anger him, such as hurt or threaten the people close to him (namely his students). This calm attitude often helps him when in battles as he can see what others cant by keeping a cool head and analyze the situation.
He is seen as a bit of a loner and although Kakashi is rather reluctant to get close to people, he is extremely protective of those he allows himself to care for. He keeps a close eye on his students and does whatever he can to protect those around him. He is also extremely talented and is known throughout the world for his abilities as a ninja. However, despite that he remains down to earth and modest, not willing to accept all the praise that people tend to shower on him.
Some people see Kakashi as a pervert, since his nose almost always stuck in the books written by Jiraiya known as "Icha Icha Paradise", or any number of its other manifestations. These romance novels written by the perverted senin often become a source of teasing by Kakashi's students, not that he particularly cares. However, these books can also be seen as one of his weaknesses, as exploited by Naruto when he almost spoiled the ending to one he hadn't finished. Despite being seen as a pervert, he gets embarrassed rather easily when asked to read some of the adult content aloud.

Kakashi tries to act as a guide for his students at all times. His harsh training exercises force them to unleash their true potential but also to teach them valuable skills as teammates and friends. Kakashi's intention when he trained Sasuke to use the Chidori was to focus on protecting the important friends he had made in the present, rather than seeking vengeance for the loss of his family. All of this focus is because of the mistakes he made as a young jounin and losing a valuable teammate due to believing rules came before people. But these mistakes were made as he tried to keep himself from making the same mistakes he saw his father make.
Kakashi was a stickler to ninja rules and regulations as a jounin. This was because his father committed suicide over guilt of breaking village rules to save his teammates, which lead to the failure of a vital mission. When a similar situation struck him, it was then that he realized the decision his father made was not the wrong one. The loss of Obito on his first mission as a jounin changed his view on how to handle missions and teammates completely.
Obito spoke these words to him just before his death: "In the world of the ninja those who violate the rules and laws are called trash. However... those who don't take care of their comrades are worse than trash." Kakashi, who took those words to heart repeats these words to Team 7 after they pass the survival training, becoming the only Genin team to pass survival training with Kakashi as their proctor.
Kakashi visits Konoha's memorial site on almost a daily basis, where the dead heroic ninja are remembered. In particular, he visits in order to pay tribute to Obito, which is often the cause of him being late to his meetings with his team.
Kakashi's personal life appears to be as much of a mystery as the face behind the mask he has worn for most of his ninja career. He has no living family, though he is immediately recognizable as the son of the 'White Fang' of Konoha, Hatake Sakumo. No one truly knows whether the mask he wears is because of this resemblance to his father or some other reason.
In his own words he tells team 7 that he has many hobbies, though not many of them get seen in the series. The one pastime most seen is his reading of Icha Icha Paradise which is an adult, (sometimes presumed to be pornographic) series of novels authored by Jiraiya. He never states why he enjoys the novels which might also be part of the reason people call him a pervert for doing so. His love for the book series is so extreme that he once left himself wide open to his students by covering his ears and shutting his eyes to avoid learning spoilers. However, he merely considers it a hobby and says that he reads them to find out what happens next. Since the series was ongoing, he was always happy to accept the next volume whenever Jiraiya returned to Konoha.

Are you ready to get started? You don't really have a choice if you aren't. We don't have any time to waste. If this were a real mission, we'd already be behind so you have to be ready to pick up the pace. I hope you all prepared your equipment like I told you to yesterday.

If you don't, then you are going to fail and I'll send you back to the academy to start your training over. It doesn't matter how far away you are right now, that is your time limit. One chapter. Kakashi lounged in a large tree by the lake, one of his older Icha Icha Paradise books in his hand. He had read this particular volume a hundred times, but there was no way to get the next one in the series in this place. It didn't matter though. Kakashi enjoyed the books no matter how often he read them. He could almost recite them by memory, not that he would want to do that.
With a sigh he lowered the book down to his lap and looked out across the water. Things had been quiet on this new world and although he enjoyed being able to take a break and relax, he kind of missed the overall excitement of missions. Not because he enjoyed working, but because it broke up the normal everyday routine. At least with his students around it afforded him a chance to stay in shape as he worked with them. Seeing them improve was enough motivation for him.
"I've wasted enough time. Probably shouldn't keep them waiting any longer." His students would be angry enough that he was a few minutes late, even though they should have learned to expect it by now. Shifting his position into a crouch, he was about to jump down and head back into town when something caught his attention from the corner of his eye. With cat like reflexes, he snatched a kunai from his pouch and brought it up to deflect the arrow that had been aimed at his head, sending it ricocheting to the side. Apparently he had become someone's target. And he had thought he had been keeping a relatively low profile on this world. He wondered who he had managed to upset enough to be attacked.
Tucking the book into his vest, Kakashi spoke, "You're good. I almost didn't notice you." For a moment he wondered if it was one of the other ninjas, just trying to test their skills. But he didn't remember anyone being trained enough in a bow and arrow to be able to get that close to hitting him. Another arrow was deflected as Kakashi tried to pinpoint the exact location of his assailant.
"Time's up." In a flash, Kakashi was out of that tree and running towards the spot the arrows were coming from. He saw the back of someone retreating into the woods and he continued to pursue them. If getting attacked was going to become a regular occurrence he would like to know why, not for his own safety, but rather that of his team.
Making seals as he ran, Kakashi set up his attack. Leaping up into the higher branches of the trees, he spotted his attacker and sent several exploding tags in the man's direction. As they detonated all around, causing debris to fall and slow the man down, Kakashi took the time that they afforded him to get ahead and drop down in front of the attacker.
His progress blocked, the other man had no choice but to stop. Kakashi reached up and rubbed the back of his head. "I went easy on you. Now tell me why you attacked." He wasn't sure he really expected an answer. People could be fairly closed mouthed about their reasons for attacking him. He wondered if it was some personal grudge he wasn't aware of. It would be pretty troublesome if that was the case.
When no response came, the one lazy eye became stern. He wasn't fooling around anymore. He wanted answers and he wanted them now. "Answer me or you won't be leaving these woods." Kakashi would never kill without reason but he hoped this man didn't know that. What he would do is capture this man and make the appropriate authorities deal with him.
Kakashi waited for the answer, well aware that he was now very late for a meeting with his team. He was going to get yelled at but at least this time he really did have a valid excuse.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I was actually shown Somarium by one of its players and after browsing through I thought it might be interesting to try out my Kakashi muse. I haven't ever had a chance to play him even though I've wanted to for a couple years. I was hoping that this might be just the place to get him active.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Be nice to other players What's not to like about that rule? It's surprising how many comms don't state this and how much drama can be stirred up simply because someone doesn't support a pairing or a character. Having a rule about it makes it seem like maybe some of that pettiness can be avoided. (obviously not all..I think that might be impossible).

[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Be nice to other players What's not to like about that rule? It's surprising how many comms don't state this and how much drama can be stirred up simply because someone doesn't support a pairing or a character. Having a rule about it makes it seem like maybe some of that pettiness can be avoided. (obviously not all..I think that might be impossible).
